Oxandrolone - Aka Anavar - General Info

Drug class: Anabolic Steroid and androgen , DHT-derived, C17-aa steroid

Half-life: About 9hours

Dose: For men - 40mg per day, taken as two 20mg caps twice a day | For women – take 5-10mg per day, can be taken in two 5mg/2.5mg caps | doses should be administered twice a day to keep levels optimum. A good length of time to stay on a cycle of Oxandrolone is 30 days.

- Promotes muscle growth, lean body mass, increased bone density

- One of the best tolerated steroids, easy on the liver (low hepatotoxicity)

Pros and Cons as Compared to Other Oral Anabolic Steroids

Pros:

>Easier on the liver than other oral anabolic steroids, it is the only Androgenic Anabolic Steroid which is not processed extensively in the liver. It is primarily metabolized by kidneys and very little in the liver.

>Strong anabolic effects (i.e. great for muscle gains), 6x more anabolic than testosterone

>Weak androgenic effects, so it can be safe for women in small doses (i.e. won’t cause excess facial hair and lowering voice in women, if used in a small dose)

>Does not aromatize (turn into estrogen) so it is unlikely to cause gynecomastia (no man boobs!)

>No progestogenic activity (i.e. it won’t block your progesterone receptors, this means it is less likely to make you irritable)

>Mass gained will tend to by dry and lean, no water retention

>Muscle preservation, Anavar will help preserve muscle and burn fat when cutting calories

>Good cutting cycle because of fat burning abilities and low water retention

>Gains are easier to hold on to after completing the cycle

>Will help you lose fat faster

>Does not convert to DHT (likely won’t cause hair loss, read more about this below under Managing Side Effects)

Cons:

>Gains may not be a great as other oral androgenic anabolic steroids, not great for huge mass gains

>Suppresses your natural testosterone levels by 50%, thus lowering sex drive, this is common with other anabolic steroids as well, a solution to this would be to take some testosterone or HCG with your cycle

>Can be more expensive than other steroids

>Raises bad cholesterol by 30%, but this is also common with other anabolic steroids. So if you have high cholesterol, bad lipid profile, avoid androgenic anabolic steroids in general.

>Processed through the kidney rather than liver, this is typically a pro, but avoid this if you have had kidney issues

>Taking creatine with Anavar can increase gains (This is because of the way oxandrolone causes fat burning. A lot of ATP in the muscles is used. Creatine increases this ATP)

Anavar for Women

The mild side effects make it possible for women to take Anavar in low doses. A 5 to 10mg dose can be safe and effective for women with little negative side effects. Women are recommended to start off at 10mgs per day and never exceed 20mgs per day. Even taken at a low dose, it is still an anabolic steroid and should be taken very seriously before using. Anavar can alter a woman's hormone cycle and in some cases can cause a number of side effects including but not limited to nausea, vomiting and headache. As always it is advised to do your due diligence before beginning a cycle.

Managing the Side Effects

Hair: Anavar does not convert to DHT so it should not cause hair loss. Because Oxandrolone (Anavar) is a DHT derivative, it has already been reduced by the enzyme that converts testosterone and other steroids to DHT (that is the 5-alpha reductase enzyme). Being a DHT derivative means though it is not DHT, it is not able to convert into DHT. However, Anavar does upregular androgen receptors which may stimulate hair loss in sensitive individuals. Everyone reacts differently.

Natural Testosterone Shut Down: Anavar does shut down your natural testosterone production to some degree. This can happen even at moderate doses. Though this shutdown may be less than other anabolic steroids, it’s still something to consider. This is why it is essential to take a post cycle upon completing an Anavar cycle. However, the duration of a post cycle may not need to be as long after an Anavar cycle verses other, heavier, steroids. HCG can be taken in conjunction with Anavar to keep up testicular active during a cycle. HCG during a cycle may also cause recovery after a cycle to happen more quickly.

Stacking: In order to maximize your gains it is recommended to stack testosterone with Anavar. I recommend stacking Sust 250 to aid your Anavar cycle.

Toxicity: Anavar is partly processed through the kidneys. Therefore, this would be a poor choice in steroids if you have or have had kidney problems.

Anavar is also processed liver as well, though very minimally. Though it is less toxic to the liver than other anabolic steroids, it is still putting some strain on your liver. Therefore, it is advised to avoid drinking alcohol or taking OTC pain relievers during your cycle. And to protect your liver, you might take a liver cleansing supplement while on any anabolic steroid cycle. Milk thistle is an herb that is helpful for this and can be purchased at a very low cost. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid is another supplement option for protecting the liver.

Athletes

Anavar will give you the competitive edge to blow your opponents out of the water, or at least be able to compete with the many thousands of athletes that are already using anabolic steroids to improve their abilities. Anavar has a three week detection time, so it is important to know when or if you will get drug tested. Anavar will provide you with gains that will last through out your season

History and Medical Uses:

Oxandrolone is used medically for preventing muscle wasting in HIV and AIDS patients, to help with weight gain for those who have lost weight due to surgery or infections. It’s also helpful for increasing the number of red blood cells in those with anemia and increasing bone density. It’s also used to help patients recover from severe burns. It’s been in use since the 1960s.

Anavar is one of my favorite steroids and one of the safest cycles you can take. Additionally, Anavar is hard to beat for its ability to pack on size and strength quickly. With proper training and diet Anavar will allow you to make incredible athletic gains. It also has healing properties and as a medical use has been given to burn victims to help them recover faster.
